Data is emerging as a critical business byproduct of digital economies. Countries across the world are putting in stringent regulations to ensure fair use and imposing strong penalties for non-compliance.  EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is case in point. It extends to organizations that do business with the EU.

The Indian government too is working on a framework. All Indian businesses, irrespective of their dealings with EU, will have to understand and adopt global best practices on data privacy in the very near future.

The presenter Mr Rahul Sharma, an authority in the field of data privacy and management, will hold the session. He leads the Indian representation at the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is also a member of the Asia Privacy Scholar. He worked with Asian Business Law Institute (ABLI, Supreme Court of Singapore) on their ‘Data Protection Legal Framework in Asia-Pacific’ project & also worked with Data Security Council of India. Rahul is a fellow at International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), Global Governance Futures (GGF 2027) & ICANN.
